First, navigate to the Multiplayer tab under "Edit World." If you are making a new world, the Multiplayer tab should be in the same location.
Next, you can turn on or off the switch underneath the words "Multiplayer Game." This switch is turned on by default and automatically enables LAN (local area network) games. There is also a switch to enable/disable LAN games if you would like to do so.
Finally, if needed, you can select one of three settings regarding who can join your world in what way. This is set to "Friends of Friends" by default.
