Coming Soon: Minecraft Maps and Servers!

If you've been following us, you've been barraged with tons of exciting new announcements over the past few hours (most of them beginning with "if you've been following us"). Well, brace yourself, because we're not done!
Because now we're here with some of our biggest news yet: we're going to be launching a Minecraft map and maybe even a server! The exact timetable remains unknown, but expect them to roll out sometime next year (the map, Extreme Lava Parkour, is probably arriving early 2019)!
So what's the server? Well, you might have a clue if you've frequented our blog. That's right: we're working toward making our Bedrock Murder Mystery project a server! It's still in the beta testing phase, and things may change, but if all goes according to plan, you'll soon be able to play a feature-packed minigame with almost all the features from the original Hypixel minigame and more!
Follow us to receive updates about this and the other big things we're rolling out. Keep checking back, because we're not done!
UPDATE: We're having trouble with our servers, and they have been delayed indefinitely. Don't worry, we're still on track to roll out some big things, and we may release these as maps if we can't fix the servers.

Are we ever coming to YouTube?

So over the past few years, this blog has been growing and thriving, experiencing success in several different countries across the globe. But your question may be this: if the blog is doing so well, when is the logical next step? When, if ever, is the Diamond Squid coming to YouTube?
Well, the short answer is yes and probably January respectively. That's right, we're making plans to launch a channel in January, along with the Murder Mystery Beta 2.0! For now, though, go check out our friend, Phantom Arrow's channel. Hopefully he'll be joining us for the beta test!
To wrap things up, we still need a name for our channel! Comment below your ideas, thoughts, and suggestions, and don't forget to follow us to join the Squid Squad!

What Happened?

So those of you who actually follow the blog probably assumed it died almost a year ago when I abruptly stopped blogging. Nope. The Diamond Squid lives on. Because I'm like that. I moved on, because I have the attention span of a three-year-old. No offense, three-year-olds.
But now I'm back, and I bring answers.
So if you've been following Minecraft Survival blogging, you'll notice that it came to an abrupt end at Episode 3, shortly before the rest of my blogging dropped off. But as always, I'm back, and today I'm here with the long overdue explanation.
All things have to come to an end, unfortunately. And that's exactly what happened to Minecraft Survival Blogging. And no, I don't mean the End. Because it appears that this world will never make it there. Instead, it perished along with my eighty-odd other Minecraft worlds when the device that held them dropped and smashed to pieces. But don't worry! We're back in business, Murder Mystery is still in development and only better than ever, and we're going to be releasing the fourth and final episode soon and then starting a new world!
And now to wrap things up, a big shoutout to those who have stuck with the blog over this one-year blogging drought (so essentially no one). Well, keep sticking with us, because we're planning some big things.

Today the Diamond Squid is proud to announce the introduction of yet another fun column to the blog!

We need your help!

As you may have noticed, I haven't posted a Minecraft tip of the day in a week or so. This is because it is hard to come up with and post a unique, original, and useful new Minecraft tip every day. And that's where YOU (yes, you) come in! We've created a Suggestions page where you can pitch your ideas for the Diamond Squid, including articles, improved blog navigation, and more! You can find the Suggestions page by clicking any of the links provided in this post, or you can find it by navigating to Community on the pages tab.

Flashback Friday

Despite the fact that this is a blog, I don't typically make many posts in regard to my thoughts and emotions, and I tend to treat the Diamond Squid more as a website than a blog. I intend for this post to break that pattern.
A memory of my first time playing Minecraft in December 2013 recently sprang to mind, and I would like to share it with you.
This was back in the day when the Minecraft app was still called Minecraft: Pocket Edition, back in the day when the Nether had not yet been brought to Pocket Edition and was instead substituted by an item called the Nether reactor core, back in the day where there were only two difficulty settings, back in the day where you could die in Creative Mode by falling into the Void, back in the day of the cherished cyan flower, back in the day before bats, boats, cave spiders, commands, dungeons, emeralds, endermen, experience, guardians, hunger, illagers, infinite worlds, mineshafts, mutton, ocean temples, redstone, silverfish, skins, sprinting, strongholds, villagers or villages, witches, woodland mansions, and (most importantly of all) squids.
I was a stranger to Minecraft back then, and I remember thinking the minecart was actually named "Minecraft" and you had to hold it in your hand to break blocks. I also had no idea what flying was, and often a time I would accidently activate the feature, and would find myself hovering in midair for no apparent reason.
The first time I played Survival Mode, I was surprised to discover that blocks could not be broken instantly, and instead you had to stand there punching them. I also had no idea that monsters could not spawn with the difficulty set to Peaceful, and I was confused when no monsters came out at night. I had no idea what creepers or skeletons were or what they did, and my first encounter with a monster was quite memorable. It was dusk and I thought I saw a cow with glowing red horns. You guessed it... it was a spider! (I found that out the hard way.)
What are your earliest memories of Minecraft? Leave a comment down below!

A big shout out to my viewers!

What with it being Thanksgiving weekend and all, I was feeling very greatful for all the people that view my blog, and I thought it would be a good idea to thank you for your continued support of the Diamond Squid!
Also, I would like to give a big shout out to my international viewers. Today I was checking my blog's statistics and I was very excited to notice that I had gotten 3 views in Ukraine, so thank you guys very much! You are appreciated!

Introducing Minecraft tip of the day!

We have recently introduced a new feature to the Diamond Squid!
We are now running a column called Minecraft tip of the day, where, as you may have guessed, a new Minecraft tip (typically for survival mode, but not always) is published... every day!
